PLANO, TX – JANUARY 11, 2022 – <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://astech.com/">asTech</a>, a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://repairify.com/">Repairify</a> company and the global leader in remote diagnostics, calibrations, and programming for the collision and mechanical repair markets, today announced the full deployment of its patented Rules Engine, which presents users with the most accurate and cost-effective diagnostic scan type for the vehicle throughout the blue printing process and repair workflow.&nbsp;The new feature gives asTech customers access to the most accurate way to identify the diagnostic and calibration scan tools that read all of a car’s OEM modules correctly – versus those that don’t – down to the year, make, model, and trim. Immediately after, technicians scanned the same vehicle with the Brand X aftermarket tool to compare the results.<h4>What the aftermarket tool did not find</h4>Brand X’s aftermarket tool failed to find two of the three DTCs, and most importantly, it cleared the airbag module as if no faults existed. It could not be trusted to validate that the vehicle had been repaired properly and returned to OEM specifications for this specific year, make, model, trim.A repairer who only used Brand X’s aftermarket tool would clear this Kia as safe, despite the presence of a potentially faulty airbag module in need of repair, which could result in an unsafe operating environment for the owner of the vehicle.<h4>How the asTech Rules Engine would help</h4>The Rules Engine recommends a choice in scans to repairers for each specific (down to the trim level) vehicle they’re working on:<ol><li>A remote OEM diagnostic scan using asTech’s patented technology.</li><li>An “OEM Compatible” aftermarket scan performed locally with the asTech tool. They then scanned this vehicle with the leading aftermarket tools to gauge their scan’s accuracy in relation to the results of the authentic OEM tool.The technicians found that a leading aftermarket tool — referred to as “Brand Y” — was able to return comparable results to the authentic OEM tool for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator.&nbsp;What the Aftermarket Tool FoundBrand Y’s aftermarket tool scan reported the same results as the authentic OEM tool.The conventional wisdom is that newer vehicles (less than two years old) should only be scanned using the authentic OEM tool. Repairify found that Brand Y’s tool could be trusted to deliver a comprehensive scan for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator.&nbsp;What This Means for ShopsThe Rules Engine recommends a choice of asTech certified scan tools to repairers for each specific vehicle they’re working on, down to the trim level:<ol><li>An authentic remote OEM diagnostic scan through asTech’s patented technology.</li><li>A certified OEM-Compatible aftermarket scan.
